Show & Tell: Worst Adoption Book EVER

Show and Tell

This is almost a wordless Wednesday, though I have a teeny setup for it before getting to the pictures.  A few weeks ago, I was at our Friends of the Library bookstore, and saw a book on adoption for kids.  For 25 cents, I figured I’d just pick it up and read it later. It’s from 1974, and wow, it’s pretty bad – especially the other book titles in this particular series.  Enjoy for a good laugh at how random the book is. “I’m adopted. Trees are green. I have a shoelace.” more or less.

Greatest book eh-vah. My new goal in life is to find the rest of the books in that series. Especially the partially-sighted one.

If it was only that easy…

Maybe it was written by a small child? It has about the right attention span to its subject matter. :D

Oh, I do hope adoption books have come on a bit since then…

    Yep, pretty bad!

Oh my Gawd. It reminds me of Japanese T-shirts that have utterly random English sayings that appear to have been picked out of a hat.

It definitely has an ummmm, errrrr, unusual approach.

You know, I liked it up until that last part. It’s very matter-of-fact, like “this is my life – I have a friend, I’m adopted, my mom lets me cook.” Then they just completely deviated at the end…

Hmmm. Reminds me of Anchorman, Steve Carrell – “I love lamp.”

Wow! A bit all over the place, to say the least. I, too, am interested in the other books in the series…fort eh whole 4 pages they devote the actual main topic! :-) Thanks for sharing!

I’m just thinking what my niece (who is adopted) would say about this book, lol! She’s 8 and she loves to read, but I think she would look at me and say “That’s it? I could have written a better book!” Lol! Cute though and nice to have as a collector :D

Oh. My. God. Too funny… in that very not funny way. It’s amazing how far books have come isn’t it? And the ability to actually TALK about things that weren’t talked about before?
